Walking Adventures

We will meet once or twice a month starting at the library where we will walk to our destination and meet up with a special tour guide who will lead the main part of the tour. The walks are moderate intensity, as there will be some hills and we may cover up to five miles, so dress appropriately for the weather, bring water, and be prepared to be out for at least 2 hours.

  • Medicinal Plants in Your Backyard – Wednesday, August 23 (9:15 am) – Have you ever wondered what medicines may live in your own backyard? Or what traditional uses and benefits a flower has beyond just being pretty to look at? Join local naturopathic medical doctor and former guide, Dr. Casey Carr, to learn about which local plants serve as useful and powerful medicines in our area. Kids are welcomed and encouraged to attend and join as this will be a family-friendly event. Starting at 9:15 from the Community Room.
  • Summit Tubbs Hill – Wednesday, August 30 (9:15 am) – We will leave at 9:15 from the Jameson Room at the Library. Come summit Tubbs Hill with us and learn the important historical role explorer David Thompson played in the documentation of the nature, history, and indigenous cultures of our local Inland Northwest. Be prepared for lots of uphill as we will be going all the way to the top for some spectacular views of the city. Please wear appropriate shoes, bring water and sunscreen, and be prepared to hike about 2 miles.
  • Protecting Tubbs Hill – Wednesday, September 6 (9:15 am)- We will leave at 9:15 from the Jameson Room at the Library. Come with us as we learn about the history of Tubbs Hill, its development, and the individuals who have striven to protect it. Be prepared to hike around 2 miles with some up and down hills. Please bring appropriate footwear, water, and sunscreen!
