The holidays can feel overwhelming for those of us who are experiencing deep grief over the death of a loved one. Our grief casts a shadow over all the tinsel and tradition, causing the holiday to shine just a little less brightly than we remember. The magic of the season feels as though it has been taken along with our loved ones.
As our hearts feel heavy during this holiday season, it is important to mourn our loss, but it is equally important to celebrate the love for those lost that persists even after death. That deep love brought to light and happiness into our world. And although death took that person away, the love that was shared can never be taken.
The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony provides a comforting space to reflect on the love we shared through comforting words, calming music, and a meaningful luminary walk around the Hospice of North Idaho Community Campus.
Each family in attendance will receive a meaningful keepsake ornament to take home in honor of their loved one.
In an effort to ensure the ability to socially distance, we are offering two ceremony times. Please reserve the time slot you intend to attend through the ticketing feature. Space is limited to 100 guests at each interval.
This is an indoor/outdoor event. We recommend bringing warm clothes for the Luminary Walk.

The North Idaho Veterans Stand Down will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Idaho College, 1000 W. Garden Avenue, Coeur d’Alene. The annual event is a program created to assist veterans and their families in Eastern Washington and the five Northern Idaho counties.
In the military, Stand Down refers to a necessary mental and physical break from combat. Military personnel would spend time in a safe place to rest and recuperate before returning to the front lines. Today, Stand Down is an event that provides a safe place for veterans and their families to engage with veteran community resources. Veterans will have the opportunity to meet personally with VA healthcare and benefits representatives. Organizations that provide medical, dental, counseling, assistance with Wills, housing, clothing, food assistance, haircuts, and bike repair will also be available. Breakfast and lunch will be served to all attendees, volunteers, and service providers.
The Stand Down’s goal is to reach veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless as well as all veterans and their families. Through the work of volunteers and local organizations, this one-day event provides veterans and their families’ invaluable information and resources.
To volunteer, request more information, or for veterans’ assistance, please contact North Idaho Veterans Stand Down Inc, (208)964-2819 or email NorthIdahoVeteransStandDown@gmail.com.
There are many organizations in our community serving families in the A.L.I.C.E. population and the population of women in various stages of transition. We are seeking to honor these women who don’t have many opportunities to “do something nice for themselves” while offering them resources and hope for a better future.
WHAT: We will honor these ladies with a luncheon at Best Western Coeur d’Alene. Lunch time will feature Tammey Grable-Woodford a motivation speaker and cancer survivor providing hope and encouragement to overcoming life’s obstacles.
WHO: We will work with our partners at UGM, The Kroc Center, St. Vincent DePaul, Your Friend Pamela Faye and similar non profit organizations in our community to identify those ladies who will most benefit from an event of this type. Guest list will be capped at 50
EXPOs and RESOURCES: There will be no charge for an expo table for non profits offering services to this demographic. These Non Profits will be encouraged to share their resources and to provide a raffle item at their table that would benefit these ladies and their families.
