CASA Baby Shower hosted by the Lady D’ Alene’s @ The Coeur d'Alene Resort

Please join the Lady D’ Alene’s for the Second Annual North Idaho CASA Baby Shower. All donations will benefit the CASA Kidz closet and local families.

We will be dressed to impress! Passed appetizers, no-host bar, but be sure to try and the Lady D’ Alene signature cocktail.

CASA supports trained Advocates for over 400 child abuse and neglect victims in North Idaho. Advocates investigate child protection cases, represent the child’s best interest in court and
​help find them a safe home with a forever family.

CASA would love to see the following items; wipes, diapers (size newborn, 4, and 6), pull ups, playmats, and baby toys!

Our district libraries currently have no budget or additional resources and the Disco Inferno divides proceeds evenly to all of our public school libraries to assist librarians in budgeting for the year.

Local author, illustrator, and teacher Donna Peltier Bain launches In the Soft Moonlight, a beautifully illustrated collection of Haiku poetry. Intended for children of all ages, In the Soft Moonlight reaches the younger audience through colorful images and repetition of phrase while allowing adults to introduce a child to nature through the power of words and art. “One of my favorite ways to get children to open up and begin to enjoy reading is by working through poetry.”

Please bring family and friends to join Donna as she discusses and reads excerpts from In the Soft Moonlight. Books and prints and cards of each illustration will be available for purchase. The free event takes place at The Art Spirit Gallery, located at 415 Sherman Ave. on Saturday, November 10th from 1 – 3 pm. Everyone is welcome!

Historic Pipe Organ Dedication Recital @ Community United Methodist Church

Community United Methodist Church invites the community to attend dedication events celebrating the installation of the renovated historic pipe organ. The organ will be officially dedicated and heard for the first time during the 9:00 a.m. Traditional Worship Service. A Dedication Pipe Organ Recital, open to the public will be at 2pm. The church is fully handicapped assessible. Off-street parking is available

Performers at the 9am worship service will include Cynthia Marlette and Mark Haberman, organists for the church. Long time community organist, Byrl Cinnamon, will join Marlette and Haberman for the afternoon Dedicatory Recital. Additionally, for the recital, two commissioned works will be featured, including an anthem that will be performed by the church’s Chancel Choir under the direction of Bill Jaquette. Sheila Schindler, soprano saxophonist, will join Marlette on one composition for organ and saxophone. There is no admission fee.

The historic organ was installed in the congregation’s previous building, located at 7th and Wallace, in 1908 and included 640 individual pipes. It was rebuilt and enlarged to 1,267 pipes in 1978. When the congregation built the new facility in 1994, the organ was reinstalled in that setting. The 2018 renovation, by Marceau & Associates of Seattle, Washington, afforded an opportunity to further enhance the instrument’s bold, extraordinary sound by increasing its size to 1,581 pipes.
