Bridging the Gap @ Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn
Apr 12 @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join us for an engaging evening of conversation with teens and parents.

WHAT IS BRIDGING THE GAP?

Some parents dread talking about the birds and bees with their children – or avoid it all together. At the annual North Idaho Bridging the Gap Dinner, you will learn that you are not alone, and through our interactive workshop you will take home the tools to take on uncomfortable conversations with youth in your life. This workshop will cover how and when to talk about healthy relationships, social media, and other tough topics facing parents and their teens today.

At Bridging the Gap, health education specialists and trained teens will help parents practice scenarios on how to speak with their own children on these sensitive topics. Parents will walk away with the knowledge and skills to speak with their children within the comfort of their own home. Help your teen make healthy choices about relationships, sex and social media.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Bridging the Gap is designed for parents, guardians, grandparents or anyone else who is helping guide teens and/or pre-teens through life. We will focus on helping those who are attempting to have “the talk” with teens, but welcome anyone involved with youth this age.

SEATING IS LIMITED! PLEASE REGISTER AND ARRIVE EARLY. DINNER IS PROVIDED FOR THE FIRST 30 ATTENDEES AT THE EVENT.

Irving tells the story of her 25 years sensing racial tension in personal and professional relationships, and her worries as a colleague and neighbor that she would offend those she wanted to befriend. Tribe by Sebastian Junger Book Club @ Human Rights Educational Institute
Sep 19 @ 5:15 pm

Junger combines history, psychology, and anthropology as he explores what tribal societies can teach us about loyalty, belonging, and humanity’s eternal quest to find meaning. He explains the irony that war feels better than peace, that adversity can turn into a blessing, and that disasters are more often more fondly remembered than the good moments in life. Tribe explains why humans are stronger when we come together and how we can achieve that in our presently divided world.
