2018 Regional Teen Human Rights Symposium @ Human Rights Education Institute
Mar 17 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

You asked for it! We’ve got it. The 2018 Regional Teen Human Rights Symposium will provide a full-day of human rights education to secondary students ages 13-19 (some exceptions made) and interested in deepening their understanding of human rights history and humanitarian issues today.

The Program has three primary goals:
Develop students’ understanding of the complexities of history, empower students to be leaders in their communities who support human rights and genocide prevention, and to provide examples of past and current role models who have made a difference in their communities and the world.

This Teen Human Rights Symposium will reduce hatred and open dialog for more compassionate youth and young adult citizenship. Students will have a better understanding of human rights, will gain confidence to speak out against bullying and hateful actions, and can infuse an open acceptance of culture and diversity in their communities. We expect students will become more compassionate human beings and develop and share more meaningful relationships on school campuses and in the world around them.

Bridging the Gap @ Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn
Apr 12 @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join us for an engaging evening of conversation with teens and parents.

WHAT IS BRIDGING THE GAP?

Some parents dread talking about the birds and bees with their children – or avoid it all together. At the annual North Idaho Bridging the Gap Dinner, you will learn that you are not alone, and through our interactive workshop you will take home the tools to take on uncomfortable conversations with youth in your life. This workshop will cover how and when to talk about healthy relationships, social media, and other tough topics facing parents and their teens today.

At Bridging the Gap, health education specialists and trained teens will help parents practice scenarios on how to speak with their own children on these sensitive topics. Parents will walk away with the knowledge and skills to speak with their children within the comfort of their own home. Help your teen make healthy choices about relationships, sex and social media.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Bridging the Gap is designed for parents, guardians, grandparents or anyone else who is helping guide teens and/or pre-teens through life. We will focus on helping those who are attempting to have “the talk” with teens, but welcome anyone involved with youth this age.

SEATING IS LIMITED! PLEASE REGISTER AND ARRIVE EARLY. DINNER IS PROVIDED FOR THE FIRST 30 ATTENDEES AT THE EVENT.
